ARS Statement: Towards our Ideal Goals

May 29, 2018

A century ago, with the ascent of the miraculous May victory, the Armenian Relief Society witnessed the indomitable spirit of the Armenian people, which made our free and sovereign statehood a reality.

Today, the ARS and the Homagan proudly memorialize  not only the valiant Armenian soldier who, prevailing on the battlefields, gave us the victories of May 1918, but also all the segments of our people, who built the foundations of our independence, extolling our national honor and attributes even in the direst of circumstances, creating solid bastions of survival for the masses of our scattered people forced to rebuild their lives under foreign skies.

Indeed, May 28 belongs to the people and its progeny imbued by the innate desire to live free and independent—to those, who even at the cost their lives, struggled over the centuries for the right to live on their own lands in dignity.

From the days of our national struggle for resurgence to the Golgotha of the infernal genocide of 1915, through the travails of the heroic battles of 1918, from the rise of national sovereignty to the liberation war of Artsakh and its independence, the Armenian woman – always on call as mother, sister of mercy, freedom fighter, member of parliament, minister, or ambassador – gave her utmost in every field to the reestablishment of the Armenian independence, serving honorably under our nation’s unblemished Tricolor and Coat of Arms.

Over these festive Centennial days, The Armenian Relief Society renews its oath to remain ever ready to render its humanitarian services to our Nation and Homeland, on all levels of its global reach. Energized by the accomplishments of its Central, Regional and local entities, enthusiastic with its present and future programs and projects, the ARS renews its commitment to work with increasing stamina today, tomorrow, as long as needed, for the welfare of our people and the glory of our beloved Homeland —

In the name of our freedom fighters and fedayees who, although outnumbered, fought valiantly to wipe off the stigma of servitude from our people’s forehead…

In the name of all our volunteers who defeated death by dying, securing our Homeland with a reborn sovereign Nation State…

In the name of our forebears — men and women — who sustained and bolstered the will of their anguished progeny to, once and for all, revive our Nation and Homeland…

In the name of our budding generations, who inherited the title to a surging Homeland braced with the sovereignty of a free State…

In the name of our Armed Forces, whose sentinels stand guard and secure the safety of our Republics’ borders…

In the name of our liberty-loving people’s Free, Independent and United Armenia.
