Mr. & Mrs. George and Mellina Jizmajian donate 150 Thousand Dollars to the ARS Educational Endowment Fund

Following the signature of a Charitable Trust Agreement, Mr. and Mrs. George and Mellina Jizmajian donated 150 thousand US Dollars to the Armenian Relief Society, Inc.’s Educational Endowment Fund. This donation will be marked as the “Sumpad Jizmajian Endowment Fund”, in memory of their father, and its yearly proceeds will be used for the support and education of Armenian orphans.

“Many years ago the Jizmajians established an endowment fund with the ARS and its proceeds have been used as grants for educational purposes”,- said Hasmig Derderian, Chairperson of the ARS, Inc. Central Executive Board. “This new donation is the best proof of the trust the Jizmajians have in the ARS”,- she noted.

It is worth mentioning, that the ARS, Inc. established the ARS Orphans Education Fund a few months ago and its goal is to assist the orphans who are part of the ARS Orphan Sponsorship Program in the pursuit of their college education. On the other hand, and beside the grants provided by the local ARS entities for educational purposes, the ARS Central Executive Board oversees the Eremian Scholarship Fund, which provides grants to college students.

“The Armenian nation always gave precedence to education. Since its establishment, the ARS has been doing its best to assist needy Armenian students in the hope that after graduation they will serve their nation and homeland. We call upon all our compatriots to follow the example of the Jizmajians and assist the youth realize their dreams by donating to the ARS Educational Endowment Fund”,- concluded the ARS, Inc. Chairperson.

With its entities operating in 26 countries, the ARS is the oldest Armenian women’s benevolent organization. The ARS has a 501(c)3 tax exempt status in the United States.
