The ARS successfully implemented its “Amanor” program one more time in December 2009. The goal of this program is to bring joy into the lives of needy children and elderly both in the diaspora and the homeland. The 2009 “Amanor” allocations of the ARS reached $16,000.
“Every member of the ARS is expected to make a small, nominal donation to the ARS “Amanor” program”,- explained Maro Froundjian, co-chairperson of the ARS, Inc. Central Executive Board. “The total sum is then divided into ten equal portions and allocated to old age houses and establishments caring for needy children as well as to the ARS entities in Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk, to organize New year celebrations for children in need”.
The Armenian Relief Cross of Lebanon receives two portions of the “Amanor” allocations and distributes them equally to the Armenian Old Age House, Birds’ Nest Orphanage and the Zvartnots Center for the education of disabled children, the Armenian Relief Cross in Syria receives two portions and allocates them to the Old Age House, the Armenian Shelter and the Jemaran, exclusively for this year, the ARS in South America receives two portions and allocates them to its old age houses in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sao Paolo, Brazil; the ARS in Bulgaria allocates its single portion for celebrations in its five one-day kindergartens, while the ARS entities in Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk allocate their single portions to organize various New Year celebrations, mainly for children.
“We are happy that the ARS in Artsakh uses part of its “Amanor” allocation to organize a New Year celebration for deaf and mute children while the ARS in Javakhk, beside other events, visits the homes of disabled children and distributes gifts to them”,- concluded Froundjian.
