Lately the Forum of Armenian Organizations of Moscow met with the ARS Central Executive Board Chairperson Vicky Marashlian, who was visiting the Russian capital between the 3-th and 9-th of June, 2010.

The Forum meeting was opened by Youri Navoyan, Executive Director of the ANC Office in Moscow, who noted that the goal of this meeting was to further cooperation between Armenian disaporan organizations. He underlined the fact that the Armenian diaspora in Russia can benefit from the experience and mode of operation adopted by the traditional diaspora. On the other hand, Armenian diasporan communities established decades ago can benefit from their acquaintance with the Russian-Armenian community that plays an important role in pan-Armenian activities through its drive, rapid development and individuality.

The ARS Chairperson Vicky Marashlian presented the structure of the ARS and priorities pursued by chapters and entities in different countries. She noted that the since its establishment a century ago, the ARS has always been present wherever Armenians were in need. She underlined the important role played by the ARS in the preservation of Armenian culture and identity within the diasporan communities and presented details about the benevolent, educational and health projects implemented by the ARS in Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion about the formation of diasporan structures, the productive use of Armenian power and Armenia-Diaspora cooperation.

At the end, Vicky Marashlian invited the forum attendees to participate in the ARS Centennial Celebrations to be held in Yerevan, Armenia, during October 2010.
